How much does studying abroad cost?

Casian (Liberty University Alum) spent not one but TWO semesters abroad with L&LI! On this podcast episode, you can listen to Casian and Ashleigh talk about Casian’s experience navigating what he thought could hold him back from studying abroad – the financial questions.

The Main Question – How Much Does Studying Abroad Cost?

With Living & Learning, the average cost of our semester programs is $16,500. Many other study abroad providers’ programs can cost up to $22,000 a semester, or more! 

Like Keara said after really examining the cost of studying abroad closely in Episode 7 of the L&LI podcast, “Living & Learning was such a great program, it was so much more accessible, compared to other programs.”

We’re proud to offer programs that are affordable so that more students have access to the incredible experience of spending a semester abroad or away. 

There was a moment of discouragement, when Casian believed it wouldn’t work out and that studying abroad in the time he wanted just wasn’t going to happen. Not long after that moment, he found himself in Rome, Italy. Twelve months after that, he was at L&LI’s Ecuador campus in Quito. 

The Lesson in The Process?

For Casian, finding a way to study abroad through navigating the cost taught him a lesson he holds to this day. He worded that lesson as “the strength of God’s provision.”

Casian shared that he felt like he found family in Living & Learning, from the staff investing in his experience to the friends he made in each semester. Both simple and profound, he shared that “the friends make the experience”.  He also shared that in Italy, he felt that he learned how to hear God’s voice. 

Discipleship, connections, and spiritual growth are all things that Casian gained during his semesters abroad and are treasures he continues to hold to this day.

• Check with your study abroad department and your financial aid department to determine what aid and scholarships transfer over to your study abroad program. Oftentimes, our programs end up being about the same cost as studying at your university. 

• Find out if your school is a partner with L&LI! If so, a semester abroad may not cost you more than what you are currently paying for school.
