Refugee Ministry - Greece
Adjust to the time zone by walking the streets of Athens and getting a full orientation of the city. Learn about the rich history by visiting the Acropolis, Ancient Agora, Mars Hill and more. The following day, you and your team will partner with a refugee ministry in the heart of Athens. Interact with people all over the world who are food insecure and without housing. You’ll get to serve coffee to individuals and conect and learn from others in the minstry. If your team has students intersted in pre-med, we are able to organize a pop-up clinic with a local church to help the community. Athens is a big hub for refugees and so this Refugee work is just really important a lot of this ministry really is relational but they use avenues like food and coffee to kind of just meet people listen to every single one of our trips it's a chance for children to feel really celebrated and to feel really loved and for their families to feel that also and so we'll come see the church and it's a really a full day thing the team will come early and set up get ready decorate and the children and their family will come actually hand out gifts to them on courtesy of email have a cake snacks celebrate them and then say goodbye and and send them off so it's a really sweet day just to have a celebration for these children who have just been through so many different things and their lives and just away for our teams to celebrate them on Sunday there will be church in the morning in Athens again this is a great church and I have translators and listen to the service either in Greek or in English there's also a church services really it's kind of up to the team what they want to do for church but regardless they are getting a multicultural experience which I think is such an important aspect of our teams for them to be able to attend a church that is different from theirs you know back in the States and to just see how people worship in a different culture a different country different language I'm just a really great chance to do that and then after church they're so and so the team will actually be able to learn how to make soap and kind of go through that process I'm really see you know what what all these people are learning as well really great profitable business so the team will do that and in the next day is the current day trip according to this an hour outside of Athens and so go and really just like walk in the places where Paul was hear the history the Biblical history of of course and all the different museums and places that are around quote and then their final day they're going to do a three islands around the coast of Athens Hydro porcinogena where they'll have about an hour to 2 hours at each island I'm just to explore take pictures try new foods if they want to do an Excursion like biting a donkey they can do that and then that's really a full day activity and lunch will be on the boat as well and then that night we'll just include the trip with a final team dinner and we do this every single last night on our trip I'm just a chance and be able to just really hear from students directly on what they learned what got taught them and how their overall experience was so that is a 9-day itinerary to Greece and yeah again the missions there is just so very rich and is truly awesome so that's what a typical mission trip looks likeContact our Director of Experiential Tours to learn more!
