Introducing the Living & Learning London Program
Living & Learning International (L&LI), in partnership with Biola University, is proud to introduce Living & Learning London, our fourth semester program location. This program is for North American university students who wish to experience the signature pieces of all L&LI programs–excellent academics, Christian discipleship, and local community engagement–in a familiar yet international context.
Excellent Academics
Students will take most of their courses through the University of Roehampton, a historic institution offering over 200 courses pre-approved by Biola University, the school of record for this location. This allows students from all majors to experience study abroad. In addition to the wide variety of courses offered at the University of Roehampton, we will also have one required course, History of the Christian Church for the cohort to take together. This course will have a special emphasis on theologians of the UK and include a one-week visit to Rome, Italy. This shared course will provide a guiding discussion and continue to form community within the L&LI student body.
Christian Community & Discipleship
Like all L&LI programs, a holistic residential format is designed to provide and cultivate intentional Christian community. Full-time staff will live on site fostering community, providing student care, and walking alongside students on their journey of faith. Located in southwest London, the neighborhood surrounding the University of Roehampton provides students with a rich setting to call home.
Community Engagement & International Experience
Outside of the classroom, students will have the opportunity to explore London throughout the week with facilitated and independent excursions. This semester program has a built-in week of travel to our sister location in Rome, Italy, where students will see and experience firsthand the locations and historic sites they will study in their theology course. In addition to these excursions, students will have one week of independent travel.
Biola University has been operating a program at the University of Roehampton for over 20 years. By combining the Biola legacy and academic oversight with the Christian study abroad distinctive of Living & Learning, students from any institution can experience a truly unique and transformative experience.
