Introducing The Peace Fellows Program: An Interdisciplinary Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship

For 20 years, Living & Learning has provided semester, summer, and short-term study abroad opportunities. Now, students looking for an option after college that will prepare them for their career and support them as they discern their vocation have an opportunity to do that with Living & Learning East Coast.

The Peace Fellows is designed for the interdisciplinary thinkers, the quiet contemplatives, and the bold innovators ready to build a "Peace Economy."

Are you planning to pursue a PhD one day? Or maybe you are thinking about a Master’s program but want some time before jumping in. Perhaps you know that you’re called to do meaningful work for God’s Kingdom, but simply don’t know where to start.

If any of that resonates with you, you’re in the right place to learn more about an opportunity that is designed just for you.

A 10-Month Residency in Urban Innovation, Intentional Community, and Spiritual Formation at the Baltimore Urban Studies Center (BUS)

Students asking "what am I doing after graduation?" can step into an elite cohort designed to catalyze their vocation. The Peace Fellows program is a prestigious 10-month residency for high-capacity graduates who refuse to separate their professional excellence from their spiritual depth.

The three elements that make this fellowship unique and impactful are ...

  • Vocational Formation: Fellows will have 1:1 mentorship with PhD-level faculty to bridge the gap between their academic degree and their professional calling.

  • Research & Work Product: Fellows produce a significant project or research artifact in their specific field—providing a high-value "distinction" for future job applications or graduate school applications.

  • Skills Development: Targeted workshops on the "Peace Economy," urban systems, and organizational innovation.

This fellowship will give learners the opportunity to grow professionally, spiritually, and vocationally while having the option to work locally, save money, and build capital.

  • Professional Internships: Strategic placements in your specific field designed to build career readiness and a portfolio of results.

  • Field Mentorship: Access to a network of high-level mentors across L&LI’s global ecosystem.

  • Paid Work: Fellows maintain space for part-time employment to build personal capital while in residence.

Living in Christian Community

A key pillar of Living & Learning programs, rooted in the L&LI mission statement, is the opportunity for learners to live in Christian community. Those enrolled in the Peace Fellows program will live alongside one another, sharing rhythms, times of conversation and worship, and community meals. The program features all-inclusive residency in the Baltimore Urban Studies Center for a cost significantly below the market rate for urban rent.

As the 10-month fellowship comes to a close, the cohort of fellows will have opportunities to travel together. The residency concludes with a life-changing immersive trip to one of L&LI’s global sites. This is not tourism; it is a Master-level immersion in transformational pedagogy. Fellows will engage in spiritual practices and observe firsthand how peace and innovation are being built in international contexts—from the streets of London to the highlands of Ecuador.
