Standards of Good Practice for Christian Education Abroad
The Standards of Good Practice for Christian Education Abroad builds upon and complements the Forum on Education Abroad's Standards of Good Practice (6th Edition). Where the Forum Standards establish minimum requirements for all responsible organizations, these Christian Standards offer additional theological grounding and formational aims for institutions and organizations that conduct education abroad from an explicitly Christian perspective.
April 2025 - At CSAC at Biola University, the idea for this resource emerged and Bo volunteered to chair this initiative.
Summer 2025 - A group of 8-10 professionals from CSAC connected 3-4 times to talk about ideas in general and build a guiding framework for this initiative.
February 2026 - Dr. Bo White shared this first draft of the Standards with the planning group via email, soliciting feedback.
April 2026 - We shared these standards at CSAC 2026 and had approximately 30 people participate in a workshop, facilitated by Mark Barnache .
Summer 2026 - Dr. Bo White shared this resource at The Forum on Education Abroad during a leadership meeting. They affirmed this initiative.
September 2026 - Dr. Amanda Kaminski and Dr. Bo White presented this resource at the Best Practices in Christian Higher Ed Conference and Research Seminar.
