Why the Summer Internship Track?
Interning in another country allows you to gain new knowledge and understanding of your field of study from a different culture and context. You’ll develop unique skills that will prepare you for your future career. We provide custom internship placement for you at locations around the city of Rome. Internship sites are varied and include ministries, schools, non-profits, hospitals/clinics, government agencies, for-profit businesses, etc. Whatever your major is, we’ll find an internship that best fits you.

Internship Placement Details
Factors that influence internship placement: student interest/passion, future career goals, internship site availability, and mastery of the Italian language (English speaking sites available)
Earn 3 to 6 course credits by interning 120-240 hours over eight weeks.
Internship placement is customizable and based on interests and the requirements of your university.
Internship Examples

Teach English or other skills at Banca del Tempo, a skill-sharing organization. Students have developed their teaching and communication skills by building lesson plans and teaching adult students specific skill sets.

Gain hands-on experience at Rome’s Red Cross, Centro Educazione Motoria - Croce Rossa. Here, students have done physical therapy internships and learned from professionals in the field how to care for patients and dive deeper into the medical field.

Provide IT services for organizations like Fat Tire Tours, a bike touring company. Students have devoloped their software experience, IT understanding, and customer relations skills through this internship.

Gain experience in the marketing field by providing creative communication solutions for organizations like Banca del Tempo - Roma Pigneto.

Earning College Credit
Students will complete either L&LI’s International Internship Syllabus or their home institution’s syllabus
Once hours and activities are completed, grades will be transferred to the home institution.
Whatever your major is, we’ll find an internship that best fits you. You can either participate in this program solely for experience or to earn college credit. We can work with your home institution to award 3-6 college credits depending on your university’s policies. You will work at your internship site four days per week with one day to rest and explore the city. We’ll have chapel once a week after community dinner. On weekends, you’ll have the chance to explore Italy on your own or with other students in the program.

The Living and Learning Summer Internship is a holistic program that provides students with a high-quality internship placement and on-ground support.
Program Cost: $7,000
