Hear from L&LI Alumni

Eden Street, a Liberty University student, studied abroad with L&LI in Italy during the Spring 2024 semester. Here’s what she had to say about her academic experience:

“Andrea Firori (Exploring the Art of Italy) is an absolute privilege to be taught by. She makes you think about art in a way you haven’t before and you come out of those few weeks with her knowing more than you could ever imagine.”

Studying the life of the Apostle Paul, students get to walk where Paul walked, read his letters on a trip to Corinth, Greece, and see historic sites throughout Rome related to Paul’s life. Eden enrolled in this course during her semester in Italy and said …

“Donald approaches the class in a Socratic way where everyone has the opportunity to share thoughts, revelations, [and] questions … Combining the Ancient Roman history, the history of Christianity, and Apostle Paul [made] the Bible become so real to me. I can now envision it because I have either visited, seen, or been thoroughly taught about the context and events of the Bible. These classes were better than anything I could’ve asked for, and I could see the Lord’s hand through it all.”

Emilia spent her Spring 2024 semester with Living & Learning East Coast and said …

“This program provided space to learn about and engage with the city and people of Baltimore through experiences. It is cohort-based and very community-focused … The semester went by very quickly, in large part because the Baltimore Urban Studies program includes both classes and an internship at a local organization. I was able to intern at a wonderful organization that has shaped me in unique ways. Overall, this program is a great way to get introduced to public health and how it intersects with urban contexts and Christian faith especially in Baltimore.”

Abigail studied abroad with L&LI in Quito, Ecuador and was immersed in language learning in the classroom and during her homestay with an Ecuadorian host family. She said …

“This semester abroad was the most influential experience thus far in my college career. The people, culture, Christian community, language immersion, and internship are just a few of the ways that this program impacted me. I was able to push myself to climb actual volcanoes and spend the four months working on my language acquisition in a homestay. Living & Learning also has students complete an internship opportunity where I was able to use my major in real world application. This internship was the best part of my semester, and I will cherish this experience forever.”
